Joni Mitchell ジョニ・ミッチェル
時代・地域を超えて多くの音楽リスナー、ミュージシャンから変わらぬ共感と尊敬を集めるシンガー・ソング・ライター、ジョニ・ミッチェルが、初めて自らの倉庫のドアを開けた。
2020年9月10日、米国ライノ・レコードは、ジョニ・ミッチェルの協力のもと発見された国宝級の音源を、丹念に調査、レストアし数年かけて““アーカイヴ・シリーズ”として発表することを明らかにした。
その第一弾は、『アーカイヴス Vol. 1〜アーリー・イヤーズ（1963-1967）』で1968年ジョニがリプリーズ・レコードからデビューする以前の貴重な音源が収録された５枚組CDボックセットとなる。
このアーカイヴは、1963年、故郷カナダ・サスカチュワン州サスカトゥーンにあったラジオ局 CFQC29 に出演したときに披露したアニマルズやボブ・ディランでお馴染みのアメリカン・トラッド・ソング「朝日のあたる家」でスタートする。
ジョニ最初期の音源で、彼女は19歳だった。
続く６時間にも及ぶこのアーカイヴ VOL. 1 には、未公開ホーム・デモ、ライヴ音源、ラジオ出演時の音源など興味のつきない「財宝」がちりばめられていて、ジョニの類いまれな才能とその成長過程を垣間みることが出来る。
29曲もの未発表の自作曲が含まれていることは特筆に値する。
ブックレットは40ページに及び多くの未発表の写真と映画監督キャメロン・クロウ（『あの頃、ペニー・レインと』『バニラ・スカイ』）がジョニに直接取材し書き下ろした解説を収録している。
このボックスセットのアメリカでの発売は10月30日。日本盤は歌詞、解説の日本語訳が添付され11月25日にリリースされる。
